Ranking the Elite Starting Pitchers

2008 DRAFT RANKING:
THE ELITE STARTING PITCHERS

http://www.thefantasysportsforum.com/

Starting pitchers are ranked based on their 2008 projection and their 2007
T5C (Top 5 Category) Score. The 2007 T5C Score indicates when a starting pitcher was ranked in the top five for the following five categories: wins, earned run average, complete games, quality starts and strikeouts. A score of 5 (highest score) means the pitcher ranked in the top five in all five categories.

1. Johan Santana, NYM T5C SCORE:1
The two time Cy Young winner was not at the top in categories last season as usual, appearing in the top 5 only once (2nd in Ks with 235). However, over the last four years, he leads all starting pitchers in wins, Ks and ERA. Moving out of the AL will boost him back to dominance.
2. Jake Peavy, SD T5C SCORE: 4
Peavy had a career year and was the MLB strikeout leader. There’s no reason to think he can’t repeat, or do better.
3. C.C. Sabathia, CLE T5C SCORE: 4
Dominant in every category except ERA, but his 3.21 is still one of the best.
4. Brandon Webb, ARI T5C SCORE: 4
Continues to improve as an elite pitcher, and 4 complete games tied him for 2nd.
5. Josh Beckett, BOS T5C SCORE: 3
The only 20 game winner on this list, but not always durable (missed 4 starts).
